Terra Nova pupil acts and dances in Birmingham Royal Ballet's performance of The Nutcracker

We are very pleased to report that Max B in Year 5 performed in The Nutcracker, by Tchaikovsky, with the Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB) at the Birmingham Hippodrome from November 27th to December 14th

The BRB auditioned children from Elmhurst (a residential vocational school) and in addition held open auditions. Approximately 500 children (about 100 boys), attended the open auditions. Most of the child performers selected were from either the Royal Ballet Associate Program or Elmhurst; only Max and one other boy were selected by audition. Max performed in 14 shows with a total audience of around 22,000.

Max and the other children play the parts of the children at a Christmas party. As well as acting the role involves a number of dances; one of which, The Children’s Gallop, takes centre stage with only the children dancing.
